There's no chance of President Obama deciding to bomb Iran, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be preparing for war, writes Anne Applebaum. Israel has decided for now that attacking Iran's nuclear program isn't worth the consequences, but that calculation is liable to change and if it does, the defining moment of Obama's presidency could be how he handles that 2am phone call, Applebaum writes in the Washington Post.

Unless Iran attacks we are not going to war with Iran. We are not looking for a 3rd war. Obama will not attack. If Israel does, that is between Israel and Iran.
It is more a matter of Congress, who I doubt has the ability to declare to the President any further wars should be started preemptively. It isn't up to the President to decide if we are to go to war or not. Simply not a choice the President now, or any time has the sole power to call.
We aren't going to war with Iran, no matter how much the chicken hawks want us to.
Israel is also capable of taking care of itself, having one of the largest nuke programs in the world. The entire notion that Iran is a threat to Israel at this time is preposterous anyway.
Have any evidence to back this up? Or are you just spouting?
I'm not spouting..it's been written up for quite some time now.
Sorry..just assumed folks had read about it over time in various articles.
Plenty more links if this isn't enough.

There shouldn't be any need for a 2AM phone call, all parties in the middle east should get a 2PM phone call informing them US policy is they can either learn to live together or they can die together. Anyone messing with US interests will be vaporized.

I don't see it as hawkish at all, let the players in the regions solve their own problems. It's not hawkish to defend our own interests.
