FOXNews.com - Courts Cracking Down on Texting Jurors
I thought this was common sense. But then again, I thought it was common sense to not text and drive. People serving on juries are using their cell phones to surf the internet, text message, send out tweets, and even set up other members of the jury as their myspace or facebook friend so they can talk about the case away from the court. Some look up info on the internet about the case while sitting on the jury. What the hell man? Are you so attached to your cell phone that you can't shut it off completely while you sit in a jury? Are you so attached to your cell phone that you can't leave it in the car while sitting in a jury? Last time I was called in for jury duty I left my cell phone in the car in the arm rest. Checked for messages during lunch and after we got off the jury pool. Then again, I don't text message except in cases of emergencies. We discovered after hurricane Lilli that when the cell phone service and land line phone service is down you can still text message. Used it to let friends and relatives know we were OK.
