I thought this was a really good article. It blew away alot of erroneous beliefs about the benefits of universal insurance.

For example, in MA where there is universal insurance, it turns out emergency visits stayed the same after universal health coverage was passed. It also turns out that universal health coverage would result in only small overall health improvements, at best, although no one knows exactly why that is, etc.

Many more interesting thoughts on health care as well.

I also agree with what he had to say here:

Though it seems compelling, covering the uninsured is not the health-care system's major problem. The big problem is uncontrolled spending, which prices people out of the market and burdens government budgets. Obama claims his proposal checks spending. Just the opposite. When people get insurance, they use more health services. Spending rises.

This article probably will not change many minds, but maybe it will change a few who believe universal health insurance will solve all the problems. One can hope.
