The American Civil Liberties Union sued the federal government Tuesday to learn the use of unmanned drones for targeted killings by the military and CIA.
...
“The government's use of drones to conduct targeted killings raises complicated questions – not only legal questions, but policy and moral questions as well,” said Jameel Jaffer, director of the ACLU National Security Project. “These kinds of questions ought to be discussed and debated publicly, not resolved secretly behind closed doors. While the Obama administration may legitimately withhold intelligence information as well as sensitive information about military strategy, it should disclose basic information about the scope of the drone program, the legal basis for the program and the civilian casualties that have resulted from the program.”
So now it's not acceptable to use equipment that keeps troops out of harm's way while doing the job.
It just gets crazier and crazier. So now we discuss more military strategy in public.

From your own post and link, the ACLU is filing a Freedom Of Information lawsuit, not asking for sensitive information about military strategy. Not trying to stop the drone program. Just asking for information, which they asked for using the usual channels, and didn't get.

That's nuts. They must not have a lot to do.

Do they seek the same kind of information about the war in general and the civilian casualties from direct combat? What's the big deal about what kind of equipment is used? The use of drones keeps one more of our troops safer.

This is where I raise a brow. I would understand Amenesty or another group bringing this up as it could be a valid issue, but the ACLU needs to keep their gripes domestic.

Would you prefer that the military use manned planes to carry out these missions? Would that make it better in your eyes, and put the ACLU at ease?
Besides, what have american civil liberties have to do with drones or with, as someone mentioned, foreign "civilians" (frequently also known as insurgents masquerading as civilians and hiding among them.).
