Bill O'Reilly, moderate voice of reason? Maybe not quite, but a profile in the Los Angeles Times portrays him as mellower these days and less inclined to meltdowns or flame-throwing interviews. He's even asked conservatives to back off the personal attacks on President Obama, a man he personally likes.

Bill O'Reilly Is Finally Calming Down - Or maybe Glenn Beck just makes it seem that way

Or maybe he just looks sane next to the whack jobs he shares a network with. Actually I've generally thought O'Reilly was a thoughtful, intelligent guy who seemed to realize that he was just shilling to make the big bucks. Watching him with Jon Stewart, on either show, you can kind of see it in his eyes. They don't have that crazy glint that Hannity and Beck exhibit.

Other than his occasional blow ups, O'Reilly has always been as fair as any other pundit show on TV. He just took a lot of heat because his top ratings for so long, and the fact he isn't a liberal. Not being a liberal opens one in the media up to tons of attacks because the majority of TV media is liberal.

This was the guy who invented a poll in the non-existing magazine "Paris Business Review" when he couldn't find any other support for a viewpoint, right? Why would anyone support a man who'd tell an easily-found-out lie like that?

But yeah, he's had to calm it down. Beck turned the crazy to 11 and ripped off the knob. That niche is no longer available.

Keep in mind he's one of the few on FOX with a college degree. He obviously is intelligent and may very well be recognizing the likes of Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh and the fear/hatemongering degenerates they are.
PS, how long until a RINO accusation is hurled his way?
