A Texas Congressman apologizes and admits yelling "baby killer" during the historic legislative proceedings surrounding health care legislation.

Quote:
Texas Rep. Randy Neugebauer (pronounced NAH-guh-bower) was the member who made the "baby killer" comment last night, according to his office.

"Last night was the climax of weeks and months of debate on a health care bill that my constituents fear and do not support," Neugebauer said in a statement. "In the heat and emotion of the debate, I exclaimed the phrase 'it's a baby killer' in reference to the agreement reached by the Democratic leadership. While I remain heartbroken over the passage of this bill and the tragic consequences it will have for the unborn, I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself.

"I have apologized to Mr. Stupak and also apologize to my colleagues for the manner in which I expressed my disappointment about the bill. The House Chamber is a place of decorum and respect. The timing and tone of my comment last night was inappropriate."

Well, I thought it was good that he apologized - a real apology, as opposed to one of those "if anyone was offended, I'm sorry" pieces of crap.

People - in Congress and elsewhere - need to take a deep breath, release it slowly, and realize that life goes on.

Well, at least he didn't beat any one with a cane like Senator Preston Brooks from South Carolina did back in the 1850s...Things are slightly more civil these days.

The title of your post uses "baby killer" as the quote, but article you use clearly states the real quote is "It's a baby killer" and obviously refers to the legislation and not Stupak as you would imply with your title.

Speaks for itself.

I fear that he is right, that this bill is meant as a way for Democrats to further their agenda of killing the unborn. I, for one, do not want my tax dollars going for abortions.

Show me where it states that abortions are funded.
I don't want my taxes going to killing the already born in other countries.

You can't always get what you want, can you?
