“It’s pretty unbelieveable that the President and his closest advisors remain untouched by the reforms they pushed for the rest of the country. In other words, President Obama’s health care reform won’t apply to President Obama,” Grassley said. “Last December, the effort to apply any new law to administration political leaders was rejected by the Senate Majority Leader. But there’s no justification for the double standard, and I’ll continue to work to establish fairness.”

I had no idea that the Prez and Congresscritters were exempt. Why would they exempt themselves? Don't they fear the political fallout?

Why are they exempt? They are U.S. citizens just like us, elected to office. They are not royalty.

IMO, a big campaign should be waged against obama and the elected officials who are exempt.

If the healthcare bill is good enough for the average citizen, it is good enough for them.

Like the republicans, who enjoy their government run health care system, sponsored by tax payers, but to extend that to everybody would be nothing short of socialism.

Shouldn't they propose a system they wanted for everybody else? It would be great to see those who sell "values", also "walk the talk".

Well that didn't answer the question. It isn't right for Repubs or Dems. If the country has a healthcare bill, and we as citizens are being forced to participate, shouldn't ALL citizens participate (elected officials or not?).

Seems that could be the basis of a court challenge, if certain citizens are exempted.

I can't speak for Obama, but if I had to guess, I'm pretty sure he will be open to single payer system and be a part of it the way it works in rest of the developed (and many developing) world,

So, why is it only Obama's fault, when the republicans don't want government sponsored health insurance extended to the people? Don't they love it?

Obama would support public option, if he had the sole authority (heck, he would go all out for single payer too). So, stop pointing in the wrong direction... the train is coming from behind you.

When you consider the fact that President, VP and senior staff have employer mandated health insurance through the Federal government one has to ask the question, wtf is Grassely going on about?
