Fortunately, the great majority of Americans, whether they be Republicans, Democrats, or independents, are rational and moderate in their views. That's why extremists like Paul and his ideological pal Kucinich couldn't get elected dog catcher. It is the ideologues at either end of the political spectrum who are the potential danger to America or any democracy.
Liberals like him because he has the courage to say the things that even our politicians won't say. Things like 9/11 being the result of blowback from 80s an 90s foreign policy in the middle east. Mainstream liberal politicians that compete in state-wide or national elections won't go near it because statements like that are usually misconstrued by simple minded folks as being a mentality of "blame America first".

We also like him because Ron Paul as the Republican nominee or as a third party candidate would make for an easy win in 2012.

Ron Paul pretty much sums it up that most wars are fought for financial reasons.
Of course Fox News does not support him like the neocons. Murdoch has made a statement that his media follows a certain agenda and it did support the Iraq war, why should they support a true Conservative man that promotes peace?

I look at it like this...

If your 220# of ripped muscle and I'm 130 pounds of ripped muscle.

I'm I going to mess with you or antagonize you?

Big military might, keeps you from having to go to war. They no not to mess with you.
If you get tired of someone messing with you and enough is enough, you go in and don't break a sweat and most of all, don't give them your back.

He is a man who stands on principles and his voting record backs that up. It would be easy, albeit cowardly, to give in and vote with the "in" crowd.
You can back cowards, I'll back people who listen to their constituents and follow the Constitution.

Walk softly and carry a big stick, is a good policy.

Disagree with me, I'll invade your country and bring out the whipping stick isn't.

True Dat!

There is not another individual in Congress or the Senate, that follows Constitutional laws as closely as, Ron Paul.

That is who I have supported since his first run for Congress.

there are plenty of conservatives who don't want to fight wars! where are you getting that?

i am a conservative and have been complaining about the bankruptcy that the US is going to face if it doesn't acknowledge its serious "spending" problem, and the interest payments on this massive debt, which just keep rising exponentially.

we will literally bankrupt this country if we keep on this path, and that means both bush and obama war spending. there are plenty of neocons in the democratic party as well, including our current administration.

they could literally just stop funding the war, but they will not. as a matter of fact, an additional war appropriation bill was just submitted this month.

What???
FACTS:
Paul ended up woth a total of 35 delegates in the Republican primary out of a total of 2300. It's not even worth the effort to figure out the percentage. And this despite the enormous publicity he received because the law required that he be given equal status in the televised debates with the the REAL candidates.

Oh, and he did appear on the ballot as a third party candidate in Louisiana. He managed to tie Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader with 0.5% of the voteGo Pauly!

Wing nuts of the far right and far left can enjoy hugging and kissing each other all they want on this forum, but it will not get their wing nut even elected dog catcher. And they can yelp and rant and shout speakers down, as the OP applauds it, but it won't influence rational Americans. It will just turn them off even more.
