Last I checked, the airlines couldn't predict a volcano, and you accept a certain level of risk when trying to fly anyway.

Should airlines be forced to pay for meals and lodging, while they wait for the ash clouds to decrease?

My capitalist side says = No, profits is the only thing that matter.

Well, think of it this way. I am in your taxi or limo and the car breaks down mid-trip. Is it acceptable to just leave me on the road because of circumstances beyond the control of both of us? Business IS business, but there is also something called by human!

No the airlines should not be held responsible. Usually churches and travelers aid takes care of things like this.

You mean if you have the money to travel, anything that goes wrong is your problem because not everyone can afford to go? Or is this a misinterpretation?

You already accept the risk of that sort of thing before entering the cab. It's called being an independent and self-sufficient person.

Forcing businesses to be "human" is not going to make them genuinely better, it's going to make them feel subservient, and looking for other sleazy ways of doing business.

So, I would just be stuck? I have never flown and after 42 years, don't plan to (doesn't mean I won't have to sometime). What is the difference why the place can't fly. Both would be unforeseen by the airline.

its a misinterpretation Charles. when you travel anywhere wether up a fourwheel drive trail or halfway around the world you are going on an adventure and have no idea what can or will happen.but go anyway expecting all to be perfect. and when it dont expect others to pay to make it what you expected. well too bad people no longer have a sense of adventure and cant deal with unexpected problems. they should just stay home. i have been stranded many times even in foriegn countries on broken sailboats and such and always enjoyed the adventure and the outcome at the end. $hit happens.and i have no money but did a sailboat return service for chickens who did
