The Associated Press: Iran begins war games in Persian Gulf oil route

What are your thoughts on the eventual war with Iran?

Are we going to take our troops currently stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan and converge on the boarders of Iran?

I don't see the connection.

Regular military exercises happen every year. Every country has "war games".

They moved them up this year and Iran has only been doing them in the Strait of Huez for 4 years now.

Normally I would agree, for example our military exercises with South Korea does not mean war with North Korea is inevitable.

But this situation is different. Iran is currently surrounded by 2 wars we are involved in and Israel is ready to strike via air raids.

This is not routine war games.

I predict that the run-up to the 2012 election will produce sky-high rhetoric from Barack Obama in an effort to make it seem that he's ready to get tough on Iran. Do I think he will pull the trigger? Not a chance in hell. Contradicting his well-publicized anti-war stance would relegate him to History's Cold Dark Basement, and thus curtail his chances of having his own statue on the National Mall.

Not gonna happen. Not under Barack Obama. At least not under his own direction. (Israel is another story altogether)

Obama will never attack his brothers in Iran..he does not have the b__lls to do that..he will just keep talking while they plant a nuke under his a__s. Keep sending Hillary back with her lips puckered...what a disgrace these people are..they will wait for Israel to attack Iran..which they will do...no doubt about it...they have b__lls at least..

You can see the perfect storm coming together.

I can see the day Iran declares it has a nuclear weapon and fires it off in the dessert.

Unfortunately if the earth survives a Nuclear war,the level of civilisation will probably be back to the 12th century.

congress is readying sanctions, which are an act of aggression to any country:
House Takes Next Step Toward Hitting Iran With Sanctions (http://www.nasdaq.com/aspx/stock-market-news-story.aspx?storyid=201004221346dowjonesdjonline000 704&title=house-takes-next-step-toward-hitting-iran-with-sanctions - broken link)

and israel is blaming us for "no prospect of peace":
Speaking today in Jerusalem, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon warned that US pressure to make progress on the peace deal with the Palestinian Authority would make any such peace impossible.

and finally we have this from today's asia times:
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/LD23Ak02.html
"With sufficient foreign assistance, Iran could probably develop and test an intercontinental ballistic missile [ICBM] capable of reaching the United States by 2015," claimed a Pentagon report that was declassified on Monday. The almost simultaneous timing of two key recent revelations - this and Israeli accusations that Syria had transferred Scud missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon - has contributed to a fresh escalation of tensions in the Middle East and to speculation that the stage is being set for a military show-down.

The war of words has become particularly harsh, and threats are now being exchanged openly between the United States and Iran: the first salvo since President Barack Obama's inauguration, and a troubling development. "We are not taking any options off the table as we pursue the pressure and engagement tracks," the Pentagon's press secretary, Geoff Morrell, said this week. "

scare tactics?, maybe.
