Some tea party leaders are struggling mightily to overcome the perception that their movement is motivated, in part, by racism against the nation’s first black president:
"We don’t want the worst elements to take this over,” said Brendan Steinhauser, campaign director for FreedomWorks, a national group that helps coordinate tea party activists. Being a racist is one of the worst things you can be in this society. No one wants to be labeled this"
"It is hard enough for African-Americans to engage Tea Partiers when the rhetoric and language from the fringe elements of the movement promote “reloading” and “targeting” soon after violent incidents were associated with them in March. But what often keeps more diversity out of the movement are the fringe elements – within Black conservatism – denying African-American culture, African-American history"
The only problem they have with racism is from the left that says they are racist simply for protesting. Like the only reason we are protesting is because Obamas half black

Did you read the OP or the article? It seems like you disagree with the Black tea party supporter.

Clearly, the only ones interested in advancing this "narrative" is the Left.
There is no racism in the TP, it is just another manufactured story by the Left.
Every single video from that day on Capitol Hill dispels, debunks and completely destroys the narrative AND proves those CBC members are liars and race baiters.
How will this work out? How will the Tea Party separate themselves from Racism when.
1. It's a 98% white, older and mostly southern party that most likely lost it's trust in the Republican party due to the Republican not standing for traditional American values that the TP'ers are mostly for.
2. It's a party of "less government", "show me your birth certificate", lesser taxes, close the borders, no Affirmative Action, no benefits for the lazy, Government is getting too involved and too big.... when the former president De-regulated the banks and we know what happened next.
3. How can the Tea Party attract minorities and lose the racist label when they're bashing the 1st ever black president but the last guy sent over 5,000 men and women to their permanent resting places in the name of Justice and they're were a Tea Party back then?
If the government stays outta everything fraud and abuse will run rampant, I don't know why people don't see that. I don't agree with everything Obama did but I do agree on regulating the banks and mortgage companies since their the ones who get away with murder the most.
If you want to be a large national group - get a message, stay on message, ignore everything else.
If you are pressed to answer a racist charge and you are not racist - tell the truth, and direct the interviewer to interview the person with the sign and clarify that the person with the sign does not speak for the message that is being portrayed and walk away or restate the message in a positive manner.

Lenny McAllister is part of the left? Why, because he is Black? Keep digging your hole.
