David Obey, who has been in the House for over 40 years and is an example of why we need term limits, depending on which issue you are talking about, has announced that he is resigning from Congress. He is the number three Dem in the House since he has been the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee for some time. Nancy will miss him especially if the people of Wisconsin go Republican and it seems they may well do that. I guess he knew that he would lose his chairmanship anyway so decided to get out now instead of being relegated to a lesser job on the committee.

They are dropping like flies, it seems.

Dropping like flies?? More Republicans in the House are not seek reelection than Democrats... The district while not staunchly Democratic is Dem leaning (won narrowly by Gore and Kerry, Obama won it 56-43). The most likely GOP candidate is an ex Real Worlder.

The US is going to hell in a handbag and they don't want to get caught up in the blame game.

This news made my day!! He did a poll of our district 2 weeks ago--the results were never made public. Now we know why--to embarrassing to make public.

Made my day too, now they can start with the top of the Democratic Party, and they can start dropping like flys, from the top all the way to the bottom, NOW THAT REALLY MAKES MY DAY!

How is being in the House for 40 years and deciding to retire, "dropping like flies?" You are spinning like a top or dreidel.

It's funny that these people think they'll escape summary justice in front of a judge (or firing squad) just because they resigned before it "got bad".
