Read the Constitution to find out why, up to now, the judges haven't been elected. We live in a constitutional democracy called a republic and those founders knew what electing those people would lead to.

Please look up some of the words of the two women on the Court right now and then consider that Kagan wants the same thing for considering decisions. Ginsburg started it thinking that decisions should be based on European, and others, rulings instead of just on the Constitution. Those who want to drop the Constitution that way will soon bring on election but I hope I don't live to see that.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Nothing wrong with the system as the Constitution has allowed. The problem is the Stooge in the White House, whose judgment and insight are nil.

Apparently you've missed the newspapers lately. He's been gone for over a year. Now we have a President who has not only read the Constitution, he actually understands it. It's a very refreshing change.

I agree, the Supreme Court is VERY powerful, years after Obama leaves office in humiliation and disgrace, his liberal influence will still be felt. I won't be surprised if in 2025 during the lunch break Sotomayor and Kagan call Obama at his penthouse apartment in Chicago and ask him for orders on how to vote.

I believe in democracy. All persons of real power should be elected DIRECTLY by the people, not chosen indirectly,by already elected politicians...

It is better politics...It is a better system...

What do u think ..?

Remember to vote in the poll too...
American voters are too stupid to elect Justices that would interpret the law correctly. That is a fact. At least with the Congress, there must be a consensus betw the congressmen and Senate for approval.

Well, the present Stooge may understand the Constitution, but he is all about changing and radicalizing my country, and stomping all over the beloved contents in that document. It is not appreciated by the majority of us out here. See ya 11/10 at the voting booth...

How about a pool of say 100 qualified judges and then selecting the SC justices from them by means of a random generator in order to avoid the whole party thing playing a role.

Again,I feel sorry that a huge majority of 86% have a clearly undemocratic view of the justice system in USA...
I hoped I could persuade 40% of the forumers ,but at 14% approval, elected justices are not even a remote political issue
