Let's try this one more time, what part of that makes her a good journalist? I know to liberals she's amazing but come on, she's an openly gay entertainer with a limited audience.

I think it's cool that she's openly gay. The fact that Anderson Cooper is so unwilling to come out makes me take him less seriously. Have some guts dude.

There are two possibilities. One, you're unable to see it. Two, you don't want to accept it. Now, I see elements of both in your posts, starting with the one I responded to. And there is nothing that will change your opinion.

Now, whether you're capable of appreciating an example of fine political discourse that this nation could use, or not, that remains to be seen. Perhaps we should start with the video. What is it that you found lacking in it? What would you have liked to see done differently (or better)?

But do you agree that her sexual orientation, out of the closet or not has nothing to do with her journalistic ability or lack thereof?

Maddow is brilliant and articulate and that is not debatable. Whether or not you can relate to brilliant and articulate is another matter.

You missed the third possibility which I tend to believe is true, you agree with this woman's political opinions therefore to you her biased "reportaining" is amazing. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion of her, I couldn't care less who watches her but to use her as an example of journalistic excellence takes things a little far. I'm not basing this opinion on just this one video selection, I'm talking about her show in general which is all I've been talking about all along. She's entertaining to her limited audience but in the grand scheme of things she's nobody special and below par in relation to great journalist of the past.

The thing is, though, she was fair to him. She didn't talk over him and apologized & let him finish when she interrupted him.

She may be a lefty entertainer by herself, but the interview was very professional IMO.

Actually it is debatable, believe it or not that is exactly what we are doing here so I guess you're wrong on many levels. When I think of brilliant and articulate Rachel Maddow's name doesn't come up on the first 3 or 4 volumes of people that come to mine.

Albert Einstein
Shakespeare
Edison
Newton
Da Vinci
Maddow

Yeah...

This interview was professional, she did manage to contain herself for this one interview. That alone doesn't make her the master of all that is news and journalism.

I agree with the original post that this was the kind of substantive interview that we should see more of.

Unfortunately, given how Randy's been cowering since he did so badly, I don't think it's going to set a trend.
