We take a lot for granted in this country.....some folks think that doing the things we do is just "suppose" to happen! But nothing in this life is free. Somebody some where paved a way in some manner for all of us to be here.....to be free. Some sacrifices are greater than others. But still sacrifices none the less.
So as you lay out at the beach or fire up the grill or shoot fireworks or picnic or go to the movies or go to church or whatever you do, just remember that there are some in this world (even in this country) who don't like it. There are evil men who don't like your freedom. Men who hate the very thought of it.
But this weekend should remind us of those that have protected our backsides over the years ...as we sleep and even today! I salute them. I know some of you don't feel that way. But ain't that some irony? These men and women made it possible for you to be free to express disdain even for them.
Hope we have more positive than negative.....but ain't that America!

and thanks so much for reminding us. I hope young and old alike remember we celebrate Memorial Day to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrafice for our freedom. It isn't just the weekend that begins our summer time activities, a day to take the boat out on the lake or a chance to fire up the smoker and have brisket for the first time this season, it is a day and a weekend to reflect.
Please, regardless of your political feelings keep this on the top of your mind for the next few days.

Nice post! I agree we need to keep this on our minds. My American and POW flags are flying high on my flagpole in my front yard just like I do 24/7/365. I will give it a good salute this weekend!
