I have and more times than not I've seen this to be the pattern.

Today's generation doesn't know what it was like. There was a unity in the country such as we may never again see. 9-11 brought us close to that, but it wasn't quite the same and not as long in duration. Everybody - as you say, we were all in it together, sacrificing everything and pouring their hearts into the effort. Everyone was fighting in that war. Some were doing it at home, others on the front.
