Well, Federal Law prohibits spending money for that purpose as the legal ruling says.
Religious victory or not.
Let them go back to PRIVATE MONEY.....those that condone this type of research can fund it.
From your link:
"For years, private financing has been used to create embryonic stem cell lines, mostly from discarded embryos from fertility clinics. The process destroys the embryos. President Bush agreed to finance embryonic stem cell research, but limited federally financed research to 21 cell lines already in existence by 2001.
Under the Obama administration, private money was still needed to obtain the embryonic stem cells, but federal money could be used to conduct research on hundreds more stem cell lines, as long as donors of embryos signed consent forms and complied with other rules"

I disagree. Finding treatments and cures for diseases should be financed, at least partially, by taxpayers.
One aspect, besides the health of the people,
is finding cures should reduce healthcare costs in the future.
There should be a healthy mix of private and public funding for the search for cures.
bush limited federal funding for stem cell research, he didnt eliminate the research. the judge also did not eliminate the research, he merely forced the government to follow the law set down during the bush administration regarding federal funding of stem cell research. if obama wants more money going to stem cell research, he needs to get congress to change the law, not sign an executive order.
besides, juvenile stem cells are not a magic bullet for curing disease, and adult stem cells have shown far more promise than juvenile stem cells.
Actually Bill Clinton signed the Dickey Amendment into law in 1995. It has been renewed every year and Obama renewed it.
The article in the OP states that NIH scientists were shocked -- that is BS because they have been scrambling since Obama renewed the law, to redefine "human embryonic stem cells" in order to use it as a loophole to get around the law.
Obama's executive order was just another hoodwink because it sounded good but changed nothing. Tons of gullible people fell for it though.
OP, don't be too disappointed. Check the med journals and articles. You'll find that human embryonic stem cell research has been declared a failure. You will discover that adult stem cell research has produced actual results (embryonic never did) and most scientists have shifted gears in that direction. NIH scientists are clinging to failed research.
Another end of around congress by obama thwarted by the courts.
Excellent.
You guys all know that embryonic stem cells have NOT shown the promise originally touted by the Left? Adult stem cells howver, have shown great promise.
Far more promise? Last I checked that despite being useful they weren't as effective as embryonic stem cells.
Embryonic have not been useful AT ALL. No where near what was promised.
