I have to say, as much as I oppose the Arizona law, I can't support bringing politics in the classroom. At the same time, anybody who supported the Texas Board of Education's ruling can't really say anything negative about what Los Angeles is doing. It's logical consistency. If it was OK for Texas to do it, it's OK for LA to do it.
I personally don't think it's OK for either to do it. Let's debate politics as adults and let kids develop their own political leanings instead of trying to indoctrinate them.

I'm sure they meant to say that the Arizona law is Un-South American.
A state law that mirrors federal law is 'un-American'?
How very odd.
