I just read about this. This is ignorant on three levels. (1) The ignorant racist use of the word r-a-g-head and (2) Indians are not Arabs and don't wear "rags" on their heads. (3) Let's assume he is right and she is really a Sikh hiding behind a Methodist background. Does he think Sikhs and Muslims are interchangeable? Sorry but none of the 9/11 Bombers were Sikh. There have been no reported terrorist Sikh attacks on U.S. soil or against U.S. targets that have ever been committed. It's clear this idiot simply saw a brown person, noted she wasn't Christian and tried to spread fear tactics about a religion he knew nothing about.

Just when there is progress in the South (nomination of Nikki Haley), a politician like Knotts has to ruin it. But then again, I'm not exactly surprised. This is the same state that kept re-electing Strom Thurmond, an open racist and leader of the anti-Civil Rights movement in 1960's to multiple terms well into the 2000's. And it's also sad that more South Carolina residents on this thread failed to denounce Knotts

The fact that you can't recognize r-a-g-h-e-a-d is a racial inspired expletive is part of the problem. You ask why people pick on the South, well your comment above explains why. The fact that you don't get that is sad.

They don't teach that word in the republican-run schools here...

I bet most of you that posted. "Rag-head" is just like the word "Redneck". It is what it is. Is it racist? Is Illegal Alien a racist term?

When you wear a rag wrapped around your head and call it a turban, expect to be labeled a "Rag-head"

PC crap at its finest. We can no longer tell it like it is. We no longer have a 1st amendment. Selective rights, are no rights at all.
Except Sikh women don't wear turbans so that wouldn't exactly make her a r-a-g-head now would it. You are going to have to do better than that to try and excuse racism next time.
