Isn't it very un-American that your ignorance didn't know there was a second verse. One Woodrow Wilson had removed, to get God out of our American lives.

our anthem is beautiful and stirring however I found this man's reasons to be more about showing off his voice than his point of god in the lyrics. it just seemed disingenuous and more about opportunity to sing than content. for me I would have been more moved had he spoken the words.

meh. He should've busted out the 5th verse/stanza too. Wonder why he didn't....oh yes, right it was a Tea Party event...the 5th verse would never work in that crowd.

Just an old man stuck in the past..

If that guy wants to sing about God why doesn't he do it in a church?

NICE!!! but it was the first verse that everyone should know, and I am sure he got paid to do it. The OP is singing the second verse which is rarely heard, and it was an unpaid, spur of the moment, performance.

If you like Marvin better good for you, I like the armature version of the rarely heard second verse.

Nothing to get upset about.

The Star-Spangled Banner: verse two
O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must,
When our cause it is just,
And this be our motto, "In God is our trust."
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

(Francis Scott Key, 1779-1843)

as I posted in the dup thread, this man seemed more about preforming for the crowd then about the content of what he was singing. like most average to poor singers they think they are way better than they are. where is simon cowell when we need him
