We are looking forward to regular trips to the beach once we move to Vero Beach. We have been to Jaycee Beach but have not yet been to South Beach. I was not overly impressed with Jaycee, mainly because it is not very wide, and I noticed discarded beer cans and a bit too much of the "party" crowd there. I know that South Beach is wider (you can tell that from Google Earth !) and it is closer to where we will live. Anyone know if it tends to attract a less rowdy beachgoing crowd ? Is it more scenic than Jaycee?

Wow, is everybody active on this forum from PSL ?! I am surprised nobody has an opinion on the Vero Beach public beaches.

Sorry, I never go to South beach park as I'm up north. I do occasionally go to Jaycees, but more for the boardwalk and park. I go to Golden Sands often, it's very nice and rather rustic, but not so wide and about 10 miles north of Jaycees.

Thanks Harry. I had not heard of Golden Sands park; we will have to check it out too. I also want to see the surfing at Sebastian Inlet.

My wife and I live in Vero for the past 3 years; moved from the Boston area.
We usually park at Riomar but there's only room for 6 cars. If that's full drive north about 1/4 mile and park on the street in front of the 1st business you come to on the right side. The beach is 50 yards down.
Also try Round Island State Park on A1A - almost into Ft Pierce.
Another great beach with parking is Tracking Station Park beach. It's on A1A behind a CVS about 1 mile north of Rt. 60.

South Beach is nice, but it is a longer walk from the parking area to the sand. Jaycee is awesome. You park, cross the lovely little boardwalk, and you're on the beach. Oh, and be sure to go the the Ice Cream place across the street. It ROCKS!!!

As Vero Gal said the walk is longer from the parking lot to the beach, but we usually go to South Beach. There seems to be less people.
