I want to spend a week in March watching the Mets in Spring Training games. Looking for a "Cost Effective" place to stay, close to the ballpark but also within a convenient drive to the Ocean.

Hotels.com has a few Motels listed, but I'd like to hear what the locals think about the Perfect Drive Golf Villas right near by.

Any place along Highway 1 worth checking ??

Photos look nice, but it's $154 bucks per night and no Free Breakfast. I'll bookmark it, but let's keep looking.

I've never been to ST before, but I bet as soon as they release their schedule.......you have to make reservations.

Tickets will go on sale usually sometime in January ..when it's the Tigers, Yankees or Red Sox , those will sell out ..every other team you should be ok getting tickets ...if you don't care where you sit , bring a chair and 10 bucks gets you in the berm area in the outfield ...another good place to look in Craigslist , buy from a season ticket holder and get some good seats ...if you want a contact when the season starts , I have a guys email/phone who has great seats and he sells what he can't use...send me a DM and I'll pass it along

Perfect Drive Golf Villas are real nice and you would be about 35 minutes to the beach, but real close to the Stadium and tons of restaurants and stores.

I saw some nice prices for Perfect Drive on hotels.com -- something like $80 a night in March. Is that about right ???

I'd be on my own for breakfast too. No "Continental" (Donuts and Bagles) provided at the front desk HA I suppose a week's worth of healthy breakfast might be good for me.

you need to call them. Depends on the time of year and length of stay.

Just a suggestion, but we are at the Homewood Suites near Tradition. It's about $90 a night but you get a kitchen-ette (small sink, full refrigerator, two burner stove, etc) and they have a really good free continental breakfast (something different every day, great hot options) AND a "managers social" Mon-Thurs nights that essentially means you don't really need to buy dinner those nights (mostly soup and salad options, but sometimes theres more).

It's about 15 mins to the stadium and probably about 20-30 to the beaches.

I'll check out the Homewood Suites page, I'm in their Hilton Honors Club.....might be worth a few bucks.

We really need them to release their Spring Training Schedule before we block out a week. I'd hate to book it and find out the starters are all on a bus trip to the Gulf Coast Stadiums.

Now -- who's got a favorite restaurant to recommend ???
