How is this going to affect the value of the homes not far where they are thinking of locating this?

Value is directly related to how visible it is from your home and how much smell (if there is any) can be noticed in the area.

If it's not visible and everything they have claimed about there being no smell is true then probably not much if any value issues at all.

If what they claim is not true and it stinks or otherwise would be a nuisance then it could be a serious issue for values in the area. I imagine if this ends up being the case they'll be sued for it as well.

Honestly I'm quite dubious on how they are going to compost without turning the immediate area around the plant into a very stinky zone. I know that it is possible to convert waste to compost and manage that smell. I don't know enough about the project to say if they can do that while not affecting the surrounding area. Since I'm generally biased at the start at trusting companies when they make claims I'm naturally biased against the statements that it won't be a big deal.

I'm all for recycling this stuff. As much as possible really but prefer it not be done in a way that is going to stink up the neighborhood.

My understanding from the posts I've been reading through a Tradition website, is that Compost USA had to shut down where they were located in another area because of the odor problems. That's why they are looking to open in Port St. Lucie.

Also, this morning, I read an article in the PB Post that prices for homes in PSL are expected to rise 10%. Not if Compost USA turns out to be an issue.

since there was already a thread started on this why not keep it in one place...

and.... the location of the compost plant or whatever they want to do is NOT in the middle of Port St Lucie as your post would lead people to believe it is....

its out WEST -off GLADES CUT OFF on Shinn Road.

I dont want it either, but lets at least get the location right.

I cant find any update posted about it since May of this year.

I would think that someone would post both sides of the story. May be it is not as bad as people might think. Couldn't be worse than the smell coming from City Hall.

It is west, and so is Tradition and PGA. I've read that it is six or so miles west of those areas. That's close enough to be a legitimate concern.

How sure are you that the smell will reach PSL? Has anyone looked at their plan? I am sure the environmental study will show all of the issues. Has anyone read that?
