The article is titled "4 Gorgeous Beach Towns where you can retire for under $40K per year" Mentions Ft P in addition to Pensacola and Corpus Christi and some Mississippi town. Includes some random photos that may or may not be of Fort Pierce.

Thanks for posting. I hear a lot about Vero Beach and Port St. Lucie, but not too much about Fort Pierce. I have seen it referred to as "Port Fierce" in the City Data forums before. Just from the few posts I've read, it seems to have a negative reputation. The article is not very in depth, but does say some positive things about FP. I am planning on checking out all 3 cities on my next trip.

someone needs to send the writer of the article the police arrest statistics and take photos of places other than a walkway at a park

^^ yes. I left Fierce Pierce 20yrs ago after living there for 32. Couldn't pay me to go back. It used to be nice in a lot of areas. Not anymore.

A recent episode of House Hunters focused on Fort Pierce. I wondered why it was so inexpensive compared to other places in the area. After reading a few posts/threads on the subject, it seems to have a high crime rate and an unenviable reputation. Too bad because the family featured on the program bought a water view, 2/2 condo for $171k. Not bad.
