My wife and I are retired transplants to Florida and currently living in Venice below Sarasota for a year. We are thinking of trying the Atlantic side when our lease expires.

I've found that joining the YMCA in Venice has been really great for us giving us a large schedule of free senior oriented exercise classes for her and weights and machines for me. The Venice gym is huge and from the others I've visited in person and seen online it seems to be the largest in the area.

I also like getting in the gulf and have been doing it regularly until it dipped under 70F in January.

Our criteria for a place to live for a year is to have a large YMCA and be within about 15 minutes to a good beach (we don't go to the beach as much as the gym, which we want to live closer to) which town on the Treasure Coast is going to have the largest YMCA for us?

That would be the main branch in Stuart. And a great town to go along with it.

We took a quick trip from Venice over to Vero Beach for a few days and just while driving around we came across a gym, Christi's, and checked it out. We didn't do a full tour - they wanted us to fill out and sign waiver forms just to take a walk through the facility - I guess you can't be too safe or something?// - but from what I could see they have a pretty adequate setup of equipment and they showed us a very full schedule of free classes that include a lot of senior classes my wife likes to take. Senior zumba, chair yoga, etc.

We didn't get down to Stuart to check out the Y. That's the next trip.

Does anybody know anything about the Christi's gym in Vero Beach?

The stuart ymca is small and dated there's better gyms in the area than the Y.. you wouldn't like martin county anyways. It's way to congested and the people are rude
