I read some of the same threads. But, can anyone tell me why I shouldn't move from Miami to Port St. Lucie. Would my son be in a better "situation" in your schools than Miami? I've been there for vaction and it seems like heaven to me!

Port St. Lucie schools, yes. The St. Lucie district gets a bad rap, but it's pretty much Fort Pierce bringing the grades down, and PSL kids do not go to Fort Pierce schools.

Since I don't know what the schools are like in Miami I can't give you an opinion on the difference. But I can say that living in Miami vs living in Port St. Lucie is all the difference in the world. I don't know what you mean by "situation" ....but living here is peace and quiet and friendly people vs the chaos I see in Miami- one of the reasons you don't see me traveling to Miami unless I have to.

Yeah we are in transition between Miami and PSL as well. I think you will find the demarcation line between peace and crazy starts at PGA blvd in WPB. You can actually feel it. I can (but won't) speak about the schools in Miami but I do know the difference I see is that the schools in PSL seem to be more community involved and the parents are definately involved in the education process.

I don't know about the academics in PSL but I do know (joking) that if your kids don't behave they will be voted out of the classroom Survivor style.

I can't think of a single reason to keep you in Miami over Port St. Lucie!

If you haven't picked PSL yet, check out Hobe Sound. The elementary school here is tops in the state, and the Martin County other schools are also up there. We left Miami in 93 with FPL&L and never looked back.

FPL&L
I thought it was Florida Power & Light
but what threw me off was the &L at the end.
