I’m considering a move to Portland and would like to live in the city... just not by a noisy bar/restaurant. I am looking for brand new or recently renovated. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't frequent Portland, but looking at the crime maps. west of I-295 has less criminal activity than east, and east of I-295, the areas called the East End (the area in the south/west peninsula, south of Bracket St) and the West End (the area in the north/west peninsula, north of Washington St) have less criminal activity than the big part in the middle. The East End and West End are still near the water and the downtown hub-bub, without being in it.

You have your neighbors backwards. The East End is north east of Washington Ave on the peninsula, and the West End is south west of High St. The East End is the farthest away from the Arts and Business districts and the Old Port while still being on the peninsula. The West End is slightly closer.

Ooops, yep, you're right, I wasn't thinking straight when I typed that and should have reviewed...

At $2100, you will have a lot of options. It may be best to hire an apartment locator to do the dirty work for you.
