You should check in to how much higher West Linn's municipal taxes are. A good realtor will know the answer to this question.
Very good info pathrunner! I noticed their property taxes were threw the roof.

Thank you for the help and seen all the cities along the 205 and found out that I am better off in Washington where it is much less liberal. My Palin 2012 sticker goes on today and feel safer in Vancouver/Camas areas...

Please don't be a popinjay! It's not funny and remember that liberal idea's never work and never will. I say Palin is a nice upgrade from the Obama's regrime. Maybe just maybe I should go out and get a "did you miss me yet", Bush sticker...

Stay on the Washington side. Cheaper housing and less liberals.

I agree, move conservatives north across the Columbia River.

Then, close down the highway bridges across the Columbia River for rebuilding. (Leave Railroad / Amtrak bridges.)

Oh, and run out of Federal bridge building money just as the old bridges are torn down. Don't need to add to the Federal Deficit, do we? Hmmm?

Are you serious? Is it better to live on the east side of Portland if you work there?

This is a running joke on this sub-forum. Ignore my poking a stick into the conservatives cage as it were. I am old school liberal from the late 60's and 70's.

Seriously, from a standpoint of saving gasoline, and wear and tear on your nerves from the exasperation of Portland's drivers, live with a short commute.

There will be another oil crunch, I don't know when or the extent of the price jump, but it will occur. Question, can you get to work on 10 gallons of gas per week? Personally, I have kept to my goal of only one tank of Gas per month over the last 9 months. I have even gone as much as 6 weeks on only 14 gallons of gas, since I use Mass Transit.

You may have other priorities.

Long story: A long time ago (when Clinton was president and gas was a bit over $1.25/ gal.) I lived in the 'burbs of another city and commuted to the other side of the urban area to another 'burb for about a year before I moved closer. But in that long commute I would just by the nature of driving for such a long time, get angry at another driver, and arrive at work angry (or at home angry) at least twice a week. I wouldn't clam down for at least 30 minutes, and many times I caught myself venting residual anger inappropriately at co-workers. Once I moved to a shorter 20 minute commute, I had many, many fewer times gotten road rage and expressed my residual anger to sour my relationship with co-workers.

YMMV

If you're working in NE Portland, 3 miles into Hwy 30, why move to West Linn? You'd have to do all kinds of traveling across all the congestion points of the city to get to any of the locations mentioned.
