Based on what I have read, Portland gets some snow every so often, but not a lot. do people there have snow blowers, is there enough accumulation to need one?

I am trying to figure out if we need to pack it up and bring it to Portland or give it away.

Any information is appreciated.
Thanks.

In my opinion, most home renters don't even own snow shovels.

You will be surprised by how many own studded snow tires, or they have become fast installer of snow chains on their car's drive wheels. (and removers of chains when weather improves.)

Whew!... Oh boy... Let me catch my breath... It's hard to stop laughing! Sorry about that. As someone who grew up in snowy climes but has been in Portland now for well over 20 years, I just had to laugh over this one. Unless you have plans to move back to the snow soon, you are completely safe in selling or giving away the snow blower. As Phil said, most in Portland don't even own a snow shovel!

OT:
If you own a dehumidifier, you may want to consider bringing it. Winter rainy season leaves the homes quite moist and humid. My small apartment, the towels never dried out last winter, and the windows were always covered with condensation. The cost of transportation vs the cost of replacing a dehumidifier is a hard choice. I got a good bargain through WalMart's web page when WalMart was having a dehumidifier sale a couple of months ago, and had it delivered to a local store for pick-up (much cheaper shipping charges on top of the good price.) YMMV.

If you have those shoe strap-ons for icy pavement pack them. When we get snow often there is a layer of ice.

Haha, I have never seen a snowblower in my life. I have no idea what they look like or how they work. I may have seen a snow shovel once... Maybe. (Literally--I am not being facetious.) We used a regular shovel to make a non-slick path from the front door to the car once. That was years and years ago. The snow was gone the next day anyway.

We don't get prolonged sub-freezing temperatures. When snow falls it almost always rests upon warmer surfaces, melted snow then freezes.

Snow blowers are not useful except in the one in a twenty year event. Under those conditions residents settle in at home to enjoy sledding and snow-ball fights. [When I was in high school Mickey Lolich refused to participate in the latter because his fast balls could do real damage.]

So, there's a chance I might need one?

I hope you're kidding...

Take the above comments seriously. Snowfall is nothing to worry about in this city. Save your money for some quality rain gear.

Of course, that's why I posted the little smiley face.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I honestly thought Portland would get more snow than it does.

Cheers!
