My old car had dark tinted windows and I had it for two years. I let my mom borrow the car and she got pulled over for speeding and they mentioned the tint but never gave her a ticket for it. She got a ticket for not being able to find my insurance card and thats it. I asked an ex cop that I knew about it and he said thats usually the last thing on most of their minds.

Default Window Tint Law

The answer to your question about whether or not the tint law is enforced in Oregon is YES. I own Window Tint King in Portland and every week I receive calls from people who are moving here or who got a ticket for illegal tint. At least it is a fix it ticket. That means if you remove the tint before going to court they will drop the fine. However, you will still need to pay a court fee. The cost of driving and parking to go to court, the court fee, and perhaps taking time off work or school to get the ticket dropped adds up fast. It's better to tint your car to the legal limit instead. Some people try to use excuses to get out of the ticket with the officer. "I bought the car this way." Or "I just moved here from another state where this dark tint was legal."
That doesn't work. Most police officers will give you a warning if they pull you over for dark tint. But that's not a good strategy unless you enjoy taking risks. I hope this was helpful.

Not sure why someone resurrected this old thread, but I will give my thoughts. My vehicle has 35% on the front and 20% in the rear windows. I wasn't quite dark enough to be very obvious, and there didn't seem to be any inspections when I renewed my registration. I think 20% in the front is too dark and you could get pulled over for this. At the very least, roll down your windows if you get stopped.
