Sorry if this seems a redundant post…weather related.

My wife and I will be coming to Portland for our 25th anniversary at the end of this October. Wish we could do it a week or 2 earlier, but October 27-30th it is.

Seriously….what is the typical weather like come the end of October? We plan on doing a fair amount of sightseeing and want to get some day hikes in. Plan to see the Pacific coast, Columbia River Gorge and at least some of the Mount Hood area.

We’re from Grand Rapids, MI.

Thanx!

Likely, it will be 45-50 degrees and raining.

However, it could be 60-70, sunny and dry, like the entire first half of October last year. Also last year, it got down into the 'teens on halloween, so cold weather can't be ruled out either.

Check the forecast 3 days before you get here. It's raining now.

I have only been here a year, but last year October was beautiful. This year it looks like the rainy season has started early. Our current extended forecast has us with lows in the 40's and highs in the 50 and 60's with showers every day. My best guess would be temps in the 40's or 50's with on and off rain showers.

But I think those places will still be great to visit even if its gloomy. Have fun!

Actually, it sounds like Portland’s late October weather is a lot like Mushagain’s. 40s-50s are common at that point, a fair amount of rain and the occasional beautiful, clear day. Halloween is usually a wreck around here.

well, according to my weather report (which I have on my desktop that tells the weather in Portland instead of Long Island , where I can just look out of the window lol ) , it is 83° today in Portland. That sounds warmer than I thought it would be for this time of year.

No way - I just stepped outside, and I'd say low 60's, which is still not bad. At least it's not raining.

That sounds more like it. I guess you can't trust distant reports.
