Hi Everyone

We just moved here last week and are staying in a cottage rental in Sellwood for the month of April. We have two small dogs and need a place to rent for a year. We don't need much space, but do need at least a small yard for the dogs. I work at the University of Portland and commute by bicycle so somewhere within a 10-15 mi range of U of P works best. We need to be in a safe area with at least a few coffee shops, amenities within walking distance. Any suggestions? We did a drive by on a few places in St Johns yesterday that looked kind of run down. We're looking in the $1500-$2k range. Thanks!

Have you looked between UP & Lombard streets? There is a great vet on Lombard, no harm in dropping in and asking if they know of any landlords in the area who accomodate dogs. Put up a housing needed notice at UP.

In Portland we network, network, network.

There are some areas of St. John's that aren't "long in the tooth", on decent streets an old house torn down and new in its place. Look around Safeway, Assumption Village (a RC nursing home). If you can find anything in the neighborhood generally described as Overlook (not far from the Kaiser Interstate Clinic) you wil be scoring big time.

The dogs are really limiting your options. Sell the fact that you work at UP.

One dog in a rental is tough. Two doesn't help.

You just have to wait..... then be ready to jump on it. I don't know what you consider run-down. I have a home in St. Johns that is pretty nice by my standards.

I'm jumping on the no pets bandwagon at that rental property after my current residents are out, especially large breeds and no more than one pet period. My hardwood floors are getting destroyed in a few short months. Look right around the U of P those house are nice but may be at the upper end of your budget.

found these in 2 mins
