If you liked being near Washington Park, you might look further at the Nob Hill area, back closer to Forest Park. Also, in the hills north of Burnside, around the Pittock Mansion have several listings in your price range. Of course, if a condo is anything you'd be interested in, the NW area, down into the Pearl would also have a variety of options.

Over in the NE quadrant, Alberta Arts District is a nice, up and coming area. And the Hollywood area would give you the best Red Line access. Schools in that area are not as good as downtown, though. And not so much "wild" area access nearby. Though there are some great parks.

Default Moving to Portland/Good Spanish immersion schools

Hi All,
My family and I are moving to Portland from California and are looking for a family friendly neighborhood with a good Spanish immersion school:

-Good schools (Spanish immersion)
-Close to coffee shops and or Eateries
-Tree lined streets
-Lots of families and kids
- Up to 400K
-Team Sports

Thanks so much,
Michelle

Take your pick. That would describe most any neighborhood depending on income and financial situation or ethnic needs.

We would really like to be near Spanish immersion schools. Also, with more of a suburban feel.

Again. Pretty well take your pick. They are common all over the state.

They're lottery based so being near one doesn't mean your kids will get in one.....

That house is in the Chapman enrollment area with the option of enrolling at Ainsworth. Ainsworth has a Spanish emersion program BUT entry into that program is by lottery even if you are in the Ainsworth enrollment area. If you have a child entering kindergarten next year the lottery is closed. I don't know how the District would handle a child coming from a Spanish emersion program in another district or one who is already fluent in Spanish.

My nephew's wife is a teaching assistant at Bridger Grade School (college graduate, before her marriage she taught at a primary school in Mexico). It isn't in a 'fashionable' neighborhood but she likes that school, their students, teachers and principal.

Spanish emersion programs are very popular (and the District is short of teachers who are fluent in Spanish), here is a link to the schools that offer them: Spanish - Español - Immersion - Portland Public Schools

This year ONLY siblings got into Ainsworth Spanish Immersion. Everyone else was locked out. And if you live on the west side you can only apply to Ainsworth's program, which is the only option for the entire west side. Getting into immersion is very difficult at this point.
