I've lived in Portland my entire, long life ... and I have never, ever heard of "the bins." Or Portland's coolest resident. Or the waffle cart.

But bobmulk... no conservatives? What about Lars?

I don't think he lives in Portland. Didn't he move to Yamhill County or Columbia County? It's pretty much illegal to be a Conservative in Portland. Just like it's illegal to be black in Grants Pass.

A Three bedroom house for $800? She must be on some good drugs or maybe that's just her share of the rent. This appears to be some sort long winded advertisement for the stuff she likes to buy.

She really isn't giving any kind of helpful information as to what the city is like jobwise, or for living expenses or even for entertainment other than her own tastes. I really don't think her article paints a very flattering or realistic picture of Portland.

Yes one sees people like her in Portland but I certainly wouldn't say she is in the majority. I agree with those who say this article is more of a turnoff than anything else.

Note that "Portland's coolest resident" actually lives in England now, where she can make a living.

GBI, that's a good one and sadly contains more than a grain of truth.
