Hi, we are thinking of moving to West Linn-Wilsonville school district. I heard they have good, small schools. Any specific experiences with special ed and IEP and autism resources in these communities? Realistic house prices for 3-4 bedroom 1.5+ bath houses?
Thanks

Default moving to west linn

Hi, just to respond to your message. Homes in west linn in your size can be anywhere from the 400's-600. It is a more expensive area, but home prices are a bit down now. My daughter is seen at ESD for speech problems. It has been very beneficial for her and is run very smoothly. I hope this helps.

Can you specify where you want to live and maybe more responses will happen, maybe move to the oregon thread?

I think where the interest is in, is in West Linn or Wilsonville.

several years ago, my daughter was a special ed kid. they however did not keep her in the district, they farmed her all over the south side of portland suburbia. i don't know how it compares to other school districts, but, all i can say is, you have to keep good tabs on your kid, especially outings or classes outside of the school grounds like swimming. they sometimes try and treat them too much like "normal" when they can't handle it, need more protectiveness instead, i mean, i saw some stuff i didn't like.
so there is NO substitute for proactive parental involvement, anywhere.
i think for normal kids, the district was really exceptional when i went there growing up. but that's a different story. One thing they did at wlhs was let the kids run the show...but then we were not ordinary kids, and we kind of took over the high school.
go doty and lough! (the smart good looking preppy/ hippie/ biker jocks- long haired football players in the 1970s. i think they both work for the state or higher ed now...)
that was a long time ago.
we were wild and indomitable! we ruled the rock n roll high school!
and then went to college. or became desperately battered divorced housewives, who befriended major rockstars....

don't worry, things are way different now.
sorry if i ruined your image of west linn....

I don't know anything about the schools, have no children but I do know that West Linn and Wilsonville are two of the most expensive suburbs to buy a house in. Only Lake Oswego is more upscale.
