I'm looking for a place that is affordable with low crime and great schools.
You better do some more research, you live in Dixon, CA outside of Sacramento. You will more than likely see a COL increase moving to the Portland area.

Many love to paint the whole state of CA with a broad brush and make it sound like the whole state is very expensive.

Do you even know anyone in Portland? I lived there a couple of years from CA and moved back to CA. While people were very polite and very courteous drivers, they're just not welcoming to people from CA. Even transplants that have been there longer than you, view you as an outsider.

To quote a line from a movie "you feel like you're invited for drinks and everyone else is staying for supper"....LOL.

Since you grew up in the area you now live in, I would imagine you have family support if you need it. What's the plan if you're at work, daycare says you baby is sick, you just started a new job and there is no one to call to get your baby? Because unless you have good friends who already live there, you could find yourself in a jam.

Did the father sign away parental rights? Even though you're not going very far, you would be leaving the state of CA.

Oregon would be a great State if you could just highlight Portland & then hit the "DELETE" key!
