Yes, but transit service to his workplace in Lake Oswego may be problematic.

What about living on the east side along the 205? Seems like that would be cheaper than living in Portland...

There are businesses with Lake Oswego addresses located along Kruse Way to the east of I-5, the OP's son may not work in Lake Oswego's 'downtown'. In that case crossing the Willamette (I-205 vicinity) would not be a good choice.

I don't know where you are getting all these reasonable prices for Portland and Oregon, very rich folk move here now.--Is this data here updated? Oregon is now one of THE MOST POPULAR STATES & CITIES TO MOVE TO NOW.(As the traffic will attest.)Bikes now need licenses. My friends call it "the new California" with new taxes like CA.I am trying to clear up misconceptions. Look at rentals, homes, cost of liv, for 2018 online, please.

I agree with my other Oregon friend here, that a lot of the cost of living and real estate reality is not really reflected here or kept up with current prices and data.--Portland has become astronomical in price. Please go online and look up real estate availability and prices with true realtors.--availability and cost of liv.

I love that town. Hard to pick a better place to live than Lake Oswego.

Lake Oswego is one of Portland's old money upper-income neighborhoods with a large 'new money' 9-5 working crowd. The cheapest access to Lake-O is the city of Tigard on the other side of the freeway. Tigard is very pro-public transportation, rent is still affordable, normal 'minivan' middle class while Lake-O caters to Tesla/Porsche/Audi traffic. Lake-O is very against public transportation to deliberately maintain its exclusivity.

The 9-5 working crowd, my lady friends at Adidas and Providence Medical, with $60,000+ income, ended up living at the Hunt Club 6142 Bonita Rd, Lake Oswego, OR 97035 (walk directly to supermarket) and the Westlake Meadows 5300 Parkview Dr, Lake Oswego, OR 97035 (access to popular parks, jogging routes and eateries)

Good grief, a median 1-bdr apt rent is $1500 in Portland? That sounds very high, much higher than I expected!

That figure is very comparable to the average rent in Long Beach, CA which is one of the least expensive beach cities in Los Angeles County (Southern California).

I was seriously considering relocating to OR in the near future due to cost of living in So Cal but if the info shared is accurate, it make no sense to do so.

Are house prices the same way or just rent prices that high?
