Anybody on this forum from Louisiana, Baton Rouge, New Orleans area. I moved here 31/2 years ago and have difficulty meeting anybody. I am in my 40's , single with a blind cajun toy poodle. I am considering moving back due to a recent job layoff. I might give Portland another chance if I can get some social life going. I am a liberal, southerner with an art background.

Have you checked out the Meet In Portland website? They have a variety of events available for just that purpose.

I feel for you. When I moved to Oregon, I was very fortunate to find a job that I was able to retire from. It's pretty hard to be in a new town, and not have a job where you could network.

One of my former co-workers and good friend is from New Orleans. He and his family travel back there at least twice a year. He owns property in NO, and most of his extended family is still in Louisiana, so you would at least have that connection.

They have quite a large family here, with four kids and several grandkids. They are in their late-40's. They go to church and do several social things with their church group, but they do not push church-going on anyone.

This is kind of a shot in the dark, but it may be worth at least having coffee with them. If you want to, DM me with a direct contact, and I'll let him know. Just a thought.
