When the cops came they just took the sword away. So might as well not even call the police.

Of course none of this is a uniquely portland problem but statistically they are higher than normal in this regard & rather than do something about it the average portland voter just votes to make it worse and worse with no empathy towards the homeless mentally ill or their neighbors who are victimized.
Motor vehicle thefts are actually down by nearly 50% over the past year in Portland.

These are the current crime stats from the Portland Police Bureau dashboard

Over the past 2 years it looks like this

My Insurance rate just in for the next 6 months is $828 for full coverage on a 2023 Kia Soul EX model, which is the most expensive Soul model. I live on the West side. I have no tickets or accidents in 30 years and drive less than 12000 miles per year. I have had a few people tell me I'm paying to much but that's the cheapest I found. I honestly don't know how others could get cheaper for full coverage.

Update received a letter from the insurance company. The 6 month cost was based on an incorrect zip code address location ( not my mistake) and the policy went up to $977 when corrected. Evidently where I live comes under a Portland zip code address and not Beaverton. I'm wondering has anyone had or has Insurance through Costco. I'm hearing members get a special rate with American Family Insurance. I'm with State Farm had Geico before until rates went sky-high. I literally have gotten quotes from numerous companies. I have never had these sudden outrageous policy amount increases until this year.

I called them for a quote. I am a Veteran but they were very difficult to get a quote from. They kept asking me for a pin number to do business with them. I never had USAA so I didn't have a pin number. Finally another employee took the call and gave me a quote. It was as high as the other Insurance Companies. So I said No Thanks.

I decided to try one more company Allstate. Thankfully I ended up getting Auto and Renters Insurance, cheaper than just Auto with everyone else.
