I have called 2 realators and have been blown off by one and the other flat out did not even pay attention when i specifically requested im looking for a house not close to neighbors and then sends me a list of conods and wrong information. Whats the deal they dont want people from out of state. Dont people realize we are all tax payers and all have the right to live where we choose. Im beginning to feel this is a message and i should not bother. Or is that exactly what they want to keep people out. I would of thought they would of wanted my business especially when i said i want to buy outright not finance.
Is it the weather that makes one so rude?

I'd keep contacting other realtors. Believe me, there are a lot of them out there who have no business doing what they're dong.

It's probably because you don't represent an instant dollar so they are not terribly interested in helping you. They would rather deal with someone walking through the door, cash in hand. But you can keep trying. Maybe someone can help.

How do you know they don't want to work with someone from out of state? Maybe these two were just flaky. With the real estate market slowing down, you'd think most realtors would welcome the business.

Why don't you try going to a national company in your hometown and having them do the legwork for you?

And I must say, my first inclination when I thought about your objectives was (paying cash, wanting uber-privacy from neighbors), it sounds like a drug dealer, or something equally hinky. It might have made me think twice about getting involved, if you know what I mean ... so walking in to an office in person may be more fruitful.

Besides, why would the weather make people rude? It's fabulous.

I can't say I really met a realitor that had any business being in his/her line of work. Most I have met (there are a number of goods ones, but not that I knew well) came into doing it after pretty much failing at what they tried to do originally. This was their backup plan because it's easy to get licensed.

All were great salesman, you have to be to continue in the business, but if they don't smell quick and easy money most won't even bother.

I know of one up in Sandy if you want his name, though I'm not sure how much help he'd be closer in to Portland. He was our landlord while were up there and he was great. Helped us out with ideas that would be good for us as we started looking for where we'd want to buy.
