If it's the area I am thinking about it's really been upgraded in the past few years. There are homes and apartments and new shops including a Whole Foods. Good bus lines too.

Stark & Burnside don't cross, until out towards Gresham. But don't in the city. If that's where you're asking about, it's not a part of town I'd look to live in.

That's close to the Rockwood area, which is the single worst gang area in the Portland metro area.

Okay I wasn't thinking of them crossing, I was thinking of the area in between in the city. Actually it's much nicer than it once was. My co-worker's son recently moved there and he likes it but I guess I had the neighborhood wrong so never mind.

Hmm, well I'm still an out of towner, but on the map SE Stark and SE/E Burnside cross between 188th and 192nd. I'm referring to the Royal Villa Townhomes, which are closer to SE Stark and 196th. From my research here, people seem to suggest SE Portland.

That's Gresham. It's beyond Outer Southeast Portland.

I don't know that area, but I don't think that's what people have in mind when they suggest SE Portland.

It's not. Personally, I'd look for something, at a minimum, west of I-205. Or even more preferably west of about 60th. If you're looking for cheaper apartments, I'd try the Milwaukie area.

That's not really SE Portland, that's Gresham. Burnside is a looooooong street. I'm not sure what you're looking for or going for, but that's not the most desirable location unless you are looking for something cheap and right on the Max (light rail) and bus line. If those are your primary concerns, then that might be the place for you. There's a little too much police action going on over there for me, and there's not much going on over there in terms of walking out your door and being in the center of fun activities.
