I am a 19 year old college student and definitely do not need a baby right now. I was fooling around with my then boyfriend on October 8th, we were about to have sex for the first time but it hurt so he didn't go all the way in, just the tip. He also didn't come anywhere near me but, but there was precum on him and he had ejaculated earlier that day. I was a bit worried so I took a Plan B pill the next day just in case.

I got my period a week later, around October 14th, it lasted about 5 days and it was during the time that I was supposed to have my period anyway. I was a bit surprised as I have taken Plan B before and it usually makes my period be a bit late. It is now January 4th and I have not gotten my period again, I usually have regular periods but sometimes they are a bit late, once I went a few months without it, around the time I was applying to college.

I took a pregnancy test a couple of weeks ago and it came up negative, so I was very relieved. But my period is still not here and it's worrying me again. I know the odds seem very slim and I'm probably just being paranoid but I'd like some opinions.

I have been on and off antidepressants (Lexapro), I stopped them because they seemed to be making me gain weight (I'm also in treatment for an eating disorder), I'm currently not taking them but planning on continuing soon. Once I stopped them I was getting nauseous a lot, but that may be for stopping the medications. It has been over a week now and I'm not nauseous anymore.

I have also had some issues with said boyfriend as well as a bad, stressful semester in college, so stress could also be causing my period to be late. Anyway I would like some opinions, what are the chances?? I may take another pregnancy test, but I don't want to spend money unnecessarily so I'm not sure.

You said that you are being treated for an eating disorder. How is your diet right now? Are you eating properly? If your body fat falls too low, you might start skipping your menstrual cycles.

Judging from what you've said, I think it's unlikely that you're pregnant. Not impossible, though. Can you go to the campus clinic and have them do a blood test? The sooner the better...

My weight hasn't changed much, neither has my weight. I do have a not so regular eating schedule as I messed up my sleeping cycle by getting used to going to bed super late and waking up late as well.

I also don't have any of the "common" pregnancy symptoms. I feel fine and everything seems ok besides the missed period, so I don't know what could be wrong. I have an appt with my doctor once I'm back at school (3 weeks), so I may ask then if my period isn't here yet.

If you are underweight or still having the eating disorder that can stop or delay your periods. I doubt you are pregnant, but there is always that chance. Once you see your doctor you will know for sure.

You're probably not pregnant, but you do need to be more careful and more aware of sex. Since this was a planned sexual encounter, why were you having unprotected sex ? Plan B should only be for emergency purposes, not an every day method of contraception ( as you seem to have used it before).

Yes, you can get pregnant from precum ( rare but it can happen as sperm from a recent ejalcuation can hang out in the uretha) ) , you can get pregnant if " just the tip goes in".

If your doctor says it's suitable for you , since you are taking other meds, get yourself on the pill or make sure you and your boyfriend have condoms available and know when and how to use them.

As others have said, people your age are necessarily regular and stress, diet and other medications can upset your hormones and wreck havoc with your menstrual cycle. .

Well, I am not underweight, I'm actually a bit overweight (since about a 2 years ago, which is actually what triggered my ED again, I'm bulimic).

We usually use condoms even though we don't really have full-on intercourse, and when we don't have them on hand we are careful about having any contact. We got carried away like it has happened once before, I know it's stupid, I was planning on birth control but he and I broke up about 2 months ago. The breakup was emotionally very hard on me since it was a four year relationship that I invested a lot on.

That was about a week before my period was due, so maybe that contributed to the period delay. Soon after I started antidepressants, which I've heard mess with menstrual cycles. So many thing have happened that it's hard for me to pinpoint exactly what could be happening.

Also, if I took a pregnancy test about 6-7 weeks of my missed period shouldn't the result be fairly accurate??

Thanks for all your responses!

You could try another pregnancy test.

However a more sure fire way is this. You said that the unprotected sexual encounter was it mid October. It's now early January. An ultrasound will be able to pick up a fetal heartbeat at 6-7 weeks. You're close to 11 weeks if you were pregnant. It will be very reliable now.

Check with your doctor or perhaps a Planned Parenthood clinic/ Woman's health center and see if you can arrange for an ultrasound to be sure one way or another.

It's quick, safe, painless

I don't think you should wait 3 weeks to see a doctor. If you are pregnant, you'll be entering your 2nd trimester soon and you really should be getting medical care.

Can you talk to your parents about this?

Repeat the home pregnancy test now. If it is positive, you know you are pregnant.

If it is negative, which is most likely, you need to see your doctor, who can help you determine the cause of the skipped periods and make suggestions to treat it. Sometimes skipping periods can lead to heavy, prolonged flow when the period does come.

The eating disorder can be a part of it, but there are other causes, too.

get on birth control and stay on it, no matter if you are in a relationship or not. this way you won't put yourself through this kind of emotional upheaval when you have an encounter
