I gained about 30 lbs each time. The first one, you don't really show til about 6-7 months, but by the third one I looked like a cow after about 6-7 weeks. You could be lucky to have one of those bodies that snaps right back to normal, but mine was pretty much stretched out for good after the first one. Worth it, though.
As long as you are eating healthy, your body will know how much it needs to gain. It think most doctors like you to gain 20-30 lbs unless you start out too fat, and don't need to gain anything..or even to lose.

Most women notice their waist getting thick and their pants not zipping up by week 12. I have worked with pregnant ladies in the past when I did OB nursing. I have seen women put on as much as 70-100 pounds and it be ALL gone by 3 mos. I have seen women put on as little as 20 pounds and complain at 3-4 mos that they can't get that last 5 pounds off. It is a mystery how each pregnant person handles the weight gain. Nursing does burn alot of calories but i have also seen nursing mothers gain alot and keep the extra weight on until they stopped nursing and within weeks the weight is gone. On the other hand I have seen nursing mothers lose the excess weight extremely fast. When I had my kids I breastfed all 3 and never lost the last 10 pounds until they were weaned completely and #1 & #3 babies breastfed 1 year and #2 baby for 2 years and the weight stayed until I weaned.

I gained about 50 pounds the first time and 60 pounds the second time . With both I was back down to 120 pounds, size two within a few months. I think with both most people just thought I was fat, not pregnant, until close to the 8 month mark. If you want to lose weight after you have a baby...breastfeed.

I am thin but tended to eat large volumes of food pre-preg and I have a long torso, so my belly is used to being stretched to the max. I already showed in mid-first trimester and now I am bigger than some people are at 26 weeks even though I am only 17 weeks (twins). :P I've gained about 10 pounds so far which is on track, I think... nobody's complained. I still have a lot of room for expansion... I just hope I can keep it under 35 pounds total gain.

The first trimester I gained a lot of weight immediately because of morning sickness. The only way to combat it was to eat and eat and eat.

I started out over weight and was really scared I was going to gain a lot but surprise, surprise, I gained nothing - not a single pound. Doctor was worried at first but baby's weight and growth was fine so I did nothing about it. I ate what I wanted and drank lot of water. I really wonder what was happening with my body during pregnancy because I am one of those people who has to be on diet all the time in order to stay thin. I think my metabolism was just in really high gear. I had a really fast heartbeat and high body temp. I didn't show until I was in my 7th month and went into early labor at 36th week but my baby was fully developed with normal weight. Pregnancy was the best I ever felt in my life. If I knew I would have the same type of pregnancy again, I would go ahead and get pregnant again :-)

At first I lost about 10 pounds, not because of morning sickness but because I had diarrhea... Then I put on about 20 pounds, and had lost everything after 5 weeks.

My wife has lost weight with every kid... usually about 20lbs. Now pregnant with our 3rd kiddo she is about 5 1/2 months and barely showing. She is built to have babies. The doctor told her she can't lose any more weight but he is not currently worried about her, after all our last child was 8lbs 1oz when born.
