Seems excessive when it's not a violent criminal/crime, from what the article references. How hard would it be to surveil the home of the accused and arrest them when they appear, then search the home if that's also necessary? Doesn't seem like they needed to bust down the door in such a manner for this type of issue.

If the PD had reason to expect violence, or the potential thereof, then their actions were warranted. I wouldn't want to get too high and mighty one way or the other without knowing all the facts--and getting all the facts in a newspaper article generally doesn't happen, not even close. I'm sure there's more to the story that the general public hasn't heard yet and will probably never know about if they rely on the newspaper for their information.

The prescott pd is out of control. This was a white collar crime & ramming the door in with 7 cops running into the house is over kill.

If the prescott pd & the city govt want respect they have to earn it.

Protesters condemn 'bullying' in Castaneda arrest/search warrant - The Prescott Daily Courier - Prescott, Arizona

Protesters marched along Cortez Street in front of Prescott City Hall as a part of the Prescott Citizens Against Bullies rally. Decrying "good old boys," "jack-booted thugs," and "retribution" by city officials, the protesters stuck mostly to a script that maintained Prescott PD officers had used unwarranted force when they arrested Castaneda on Oct. 13.

Former Mayor Jack Wilson also questioned the police officers' move to enter the home with guns drawn after using a ram to get through the door. "We've got a white-collar crime here," he said before the start of the rally Monday morning. "And we have seven sworn officers hit the house at the same time." Wilson states that the officers' tactics amounted to "dynamic entry," which he said is usually used in cases of dangerous crime such as drug busts or murder suspects.
