Hello- have family looking to move to Prescott for a summer home. Interested in hearing opinions on what some good areas/neighborhoods might be. They would like to buy a home in the $250-$375 range. They would like to be somewhere with minimal fire risk in a nice area with amenities like a neighborhood pool. Thanks!

Yavapai Hills sounds like the only option. They might find something small in Prescott Lakes, but the dues are really high ($270/month). Very few subdivisions in Prescott have a pool. They can also look at Hidden Valley Ranch or Wildwood, but those areas would have a greater fire risk.

Alternatively, they could look in Prescott Valley: StoneRidge, Granville, Pronghorn, and Quailwood all have pools and gyms with roughly $50/month dues. They would also get more house for their money in Prescott Valley.

You might want to see Wildwood Estates; off Iron Spring road. Great older community. They have a community pool. HOA is $150 per annum. There are only 3 houses for sale now and they go pretty quick. Take a look..very quiet; at the edge of the Prescott National Forest.

cheers...

Thanks! I think they are willing to look at condos as well. Does anyone know about Hassayampa? They also saw places on Blooming Hills Drive online. Thanks again!

Condos gives you a lot more options - and Hassayampa condos are quite nice (I hear each even has its own elevator). How big of a concern is the fire risk? There are condos on Haisley that I think are nice, less expensive, and have a pool (as well as tennis courts), but they're just about in the forest (not too dissimilar for Hassayampa)...

Brian provided the best overall suggestion of Yavapai Hills, but as he said, if they're open to something outside of Prescott, many more options exist...

Hassayampa condos are certainly nice, but the dues are also fairly high. If this is only a summer residence, high monthly dues might be a negative. The same goes for the condos on Blooming Hills.

I think they are ok with low-medium fire risk, but not having to worry too much as they will be gone for months at a time. They want to be close to the heart of Prescott so I think that rules out some of the more outlying areas.

Then the Hassayampa and Blooming Hills condos would be the safest, since they are both gated and are both close to downtown. The Hassayampa condos are generally nicer and consequently more pricey.
