Hello,

I currently live in Phoenix but I'm finding the heat to be unbearable. I'm originally from Oregon. I'm thinking about moving to Prescott when my lease is up in Sept but was wondering about the job situation. I've looked online, but doesn't appear to be much there. I'm just looking for data entry, but nothing involving phones. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to find work? I also noticed there are hardly any apartments when looking online- ? where do people live?? I was thinking about Flagstaff, but it's too cold there so i'm just looking for somewhere north of Phoenix that would offer some relief from the heat. Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you

I think it is pretty tough up here but places to look would be Yavapai College, Yavapi County Gov, Prescott City Gov, Prescott Valley City Gov, Embry Riddle university and the Yavapai Hospital System. here are also a few companies up here like Ruger that might offer some employment. Low paying service jobs are around but don't pay all that much.

It is doable but you might have to look for a bit and think a bit outside of the box as to what you might do.

It seems the medical field has a pretty high turn over and might be your best bet if you want to get up here quickly. Also note that we do have 100+ degree weather up here as well although we don't have it nearly as bad as Phoenix.

I brought my job with me up here. Check telecommute options as well.

Best of luck to you.

As to apartments, right now there is a shortage of rentals/apartments on the lower end of the price spectrum. Typically people have to look for a good while and immediately swoop on something as it becomes available. It sucks as even three years ago this wasn't the case but it is now.

Thanks for the info, eeek, it sounds like quite the challenge! I wonder if it would be easier to find work in Flagstaff, but I really wanted to avoid that area as it seem too cold there. Also seems like apartments are few & far between. Guess they just don't have the population there.

Default Jobs

My understanding is that Flagstaff is tougher as it is a college town. That is what I have heard. Lots of lower paying jobs.

Perhaps someone here knows something different??

Geez, this is more difficult than I thought it would be! Seems like apartment rents are high in Flagstaff too..How do they justify low wages & high rent? I really don't want to move back to Oregon. I love it here

Rents in Flag are high due to the university. College kids compete like crazy for apartments.
