Is there anyplace in Prescott Valley which has land where the ground does not have the consistency of baby powder? My wife and I looked at a place in Paulden which had such land. Not good especially for horses. The owners horses were literally coughing while eating their hay off the ground. Drove north to check a place outside of Ash Fork. The same red powder ground. We really like cooler winters 0-25 degrees where the little critters (fleas and such) can't survive, and no constant 100+ summers. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Check around Coyote Springs just north of highway 89A, the ground doesn't have the red powder or fine dust. Also, drive down to Dewey-Humboldt Along that town and east along highway 169 there are some acreage homes with wide spaces for horses.

I'm here today to discuss with you" Artificial Turf". Seriously have you considered stopping by some stables in the area to see what they are doing? Maybe they are amending the soil with another product such as wood chips or sand to help eliminate the dust problem.

Thanks Hschlick84. We kind of drove thru Dewey Humboldt but like dummies, didn't stop and check it out. Now we definitely will. Can't find Coyote Springs on our map. Can you advise of the next nearest town?

YetiMan, Yea, we thought of that on the Poulden property. The powder was on the entire 5.5 acres and would have been very cost prohibitive, which was too bad because the property bordered on State land which is exactly what we would like. It had a gate to the State land. Horse back riding and shooting galore without have to pay additional taxes.

Coyote Springs is off 89A and N Coyote Springs Rd. If you're coming from the south, Robert Rd will run into 89A. Take Coyote Springs Rd. north and it will lead you to the area. It's about a 7 mile drive north until it ends. The next town south of Dewey-Humboldt is Mayer, highway 69 runs straight through.
