We moved here from CA about a month before the "lockdown". We are hoping it turns out well, it seems like people here are super nice, we love our house in PV - we did choose a neighborhood with sidewalks, which seem to be in short supply around here...very near shopping and the hospital, somewhat concerned if we need serious medical care, due to the limited scope of the area - SoCal has a lot of specialists and surgeons, and we know that the selection here can't compare.

Couldn't afford what we wanted in Prescott proper. Before everything closed, we enjoyed going to Prescott historic area Whiskey Row and saw a show or two - now... we wait.

Lovely lakes and nice areas to hike and boat and fish and mountain bike, so happy about that. People here are friendly, and we hope to make friends here once social distancing stops being a thing. One thing I really appreciate about living where we do is the proximity to everything. We moved from San Diego N. Cty and the hectic freeways to get anywhere and the traffic were so stressful. We like the more relaxed atmosphere here, and the retired population are prime customers for our home-based business.

We enjoy that there are a lot of hot rods and classic cars driving around here, kind of like a car show every time we go anywhere we see some kind of special vehicle that someone obviously loves a lot. It's such a beautiful place, just now, can we please enjoy having everything open for business again??

Perhaps, see if your area has a Life Flight Service which suits your situation. We pay less then $100 per year for helicopter & emergency ambulance service here in Oregon.

Our favorite was Paulden, it's not too far out but far enough to give us the peace we want, and we have horses and animals so some acreage is a must. Love the downtown Prescott area, had a great breakfast there at the St Michael...
It has everything we want and nothing that we don't. Add the good 4 season weather and a good conservative populace and it is looking like the perfect place for us. Still close enough to San Diego to drive back and visit family/friends as needed. We are going back in mid-November for another visit, to see friends and look at a particular house we liked.....
Well now it's May and we finally made the move for good. Actually sold our house in SoCal in the middle of the shutdown (it started the same week we listed ) ended up in Paulden as I said in the earlier post.
We have been here for exactly 2 weeks as of yesterday and just love the area! Views are incredible, weather is great (although just a wee bit warmer than I expected), and the people are extra friendly...it is so noticeable that we can't be imagining it.....

It's too bad that our first few weeks here are impacted by this stupid virus....when we planned this months/years ago, we were looking forward to trying out all the new restaurants and attractions like museums and parks. But oh well it is what it is....:-)

Did a little road trip over to Jerome last weekend, what a nice little town. We'll definitely go back when the virus is less of a thing, looks like nice quaint little restaurants and bars to enjoy. It was sad seeing it all shut down.....

Anyway...impressions of the area so far: We'd give it 100 out of 100......! Can't wait to really start getting into the area...

Welcome to the area Woody. I am sure you will enjoy it. I do not live far from Paulden just a few miles from where I live. You will enjoy the leisurely drives to Jerome, Sedona and Cottonwood has some excellent restaurants. Clarkdale is a nice community. In the summer I like to drive to Williams and Flagstaff. Everything is out your back door. I like to take the drive where Drake's Cement plant is and follow that road and it will take you to the back side of Williams. People are friendly.

It is a dirt road that is maintained. A good place to find some nice riding trails is out of Flagstaff on Hwy 89 maybe five miles out.

I'm glad I found this thread. In a week hubby and I are moving to PV.

We were up in Ash Fork 3 weeks ago visiting friends and decided we liked the area. We've been looking to get away from DFW since it's now beyond crowded. And the views and air quality in the PV area was amazing. Hubby found a job and that's all we needed to make the jump.

Get here before all the folks in democratic cities do a mass exodus when the police are defunded and head for places like AZ where there is safety
