Could someone describe the area surrounding Old Highway 89A at Highway 89 in Prescott? We're conducting rental searches at a distance, and won't be able to make it to the area until November 10.

Thanks!

That spot is right next to the Antelope Hills public golf course and the Prescott airport. There is an industrial area further east on Hwy-89A. There is a gas station next to the airport. That area is very close to the Granite Dells, which is a gorgeous outcropping of granite boulders. Watsen Lake and Willow Lake are also nearby. The traffic on Hwy-89 at that location is primarily commuters from Chino Valley headed into Prescott or Prescott Valley - heavy towards Prescott in the morning and towards Chino in the evening. Hope that helps.

I was thinking that "Old" Highway 89A instersected with Hwy 89 a little further south of the current 89A bypass and Hwy 89. I think that might put the potential rental in a little bit older area of The Dells. If you have the address, you can do Google earth and see exactly where it is. If it's where I think it is, I'd want to look at it first before renting. It could be very nice . . . or not. But then, I'd always want to look at any rental before I made definite arrangements.

Thanks! We're trying to find a nice rental within 15 minutes commute to Commercial Way that is still within Prescott proper.

Check out the Cliff Rose or Prescott Lakes subdivisions. Those are the closest to Commercial Way. They are both very nice areas. Cliff Rose will be generally be the less expensive of the two.

What about Gail Gardner at Dougherty? We've seen a townhome on Craigslist that looks good, but it seems like it might be close to the fairgrounds? We're not able to fly down to check things out until next weekend. Thanks!

Gail Gardner and Dougherty is an okay area...many older places there but not run down, also some medical offices nearby and it is in a good location for shopping, etc. It's on the west side of Prescott.

Those particular townhouses are newer, and the "fairgrounds" aren't really the fairgrounds any more. They're home to the BIG July 4th rodeo once a year, but other than that there's not a lot of activity there.

The Gail Gardner corridor is very much a mix. There are quite a few small, older homes in the area, many of which are rentals. Recently there have been some of the older homes gutted, remodelled, and expanded into new medical offices.

The townhomes you're probably looking at are across the street from what used to be Lamb Subaru, which has recently moved to a new location.
