Wow, wasnt expecting this especially since the Cards only have Derek Anderson and two unproven QB's. Well they did state he was 7-10 as a starter so I guess that played a huge role in releasing him.
I remember back in 2006 when I thought he would be a star in the NFL after his performance against the Bears on a MNF game but.......
When i was listening to espn radio this morning i heard a good point to why they let him go. In alot of interviews with him, and the team - used to live in phoenix -none of his teamates believed that he could lead or help the team. He had no chance after Curt Warner did so well. Sucks for him it happend just before regular season got underway. Dont cry for him, he still got millions.

He was never the same after that crushing defeat in 2006 vs the Bears
Didnt see the game so i cant say much. I just think he is stuck in college gear. Doing rookie mistakes time in and time out. Then look at the slew of qbs that are second third of fourth year NFL starters and...gotta draw that line. Flaco, Young, Ryan, Henne have all won. Im not sayin these examples are future famers but they have got to that next level so faster than the other. Just never saw that when i did se Matt on the field.

I say Young cause he went through the same thing as Leinart - almost. Stars and ready to play but disappointed then, Got beat out by a vet qb. Vince actually showed he could when mid last season after that horrible start for the Titans. Leinart never showed that in more than 2 games. Plus Young had more to gain in the fact he wasnt polished as a qb in college. Gave him room to grow as in Matt's case he and maybe the staff thought all he needed was a playbook. His cup was full in minds of others to he was supposed to be mister Marino, Elway and save the day. I really hope he finds a team for the Heisman sake!!

That's probably going to happen to Kevin Kolb since everyone think he is going to be so GREAT
Texans picked him up as a backup. Leinharts completions are mostly dump offs. His avg yards per completion is around 4 I think.
